Since Binney & Smith introduced Crayola colored pencils in 1903, over two hundred distinctive colors have been produced in a wide variety of ranges. Crayola was so successful because the company found an inexpensive way to combine paraffin wax with safe pigments. The line underwent several major revisions throughout its history, including in 1935, 1949, 1958, and 1990. Many specialty pens were also made, complementing Crayola’s core range.
