Field gray is a greenish-gray color. It was the official base color of the military uniforms of the German Armed Forces from the early 20th century until 1945 (West Germany) and 1989 (East Germany). The militaries of other countries have also used different shades of this color. Feldgrau was used to indicate the color of the uniforms of the German armies, first the Imperial German Army and then the Heer (land forces) of the Reichswehr and Wehrmacht.
