Desert sand is very light, very weakly saturated reddish-yellow color, especially combined with the color of the sand. A deep shade of beige may also be considered. General Motors used desert sand along with “rosewood” as the paint color for its early Cadillacs. In 1998, the desert sand was turned into a Crayola crayon color. The color shown at right is the paler of the three colors of the US military’s tricolor desert camouflage uniform, which began to replace the six-color desert combat suit uniforms in 1990.
