Arylide yellow, also known as Hansa yellow and monoazo yellow, is a family of organic compounds used as pigments. They are mainly used as industrial colorants, also in plastics, paints and construction inks. They are also used in fine art oil paints, acrylic paints, and watercolors. These pigments are usually semi-transparent and range from yellow-orange to yellow-green. Related organic pigments are diarylide pigments. In general, these pigments have partially replaced the toxic cadmium yellow on the market. Painters such as Alexander Calder and Jackson Pollock are known for using yellow arylic in their works.
